Simos12 3.0TFSI

CORRECTION / DISAMBIGUATION (verify the ECU part number before routing any file). The original prompt conflates three unrelated ECUs. (1) Continental SIMOS 12.x (12.1/12.2) is the EA888 Gen3 FOUR-CYLINDER 1.8/2.0 TFSI ECU (early Golf VII GTI/R, A3 8V, Leon, etc.; CJSA/CJXA/CNCD/CHHB) on an Infineon TriCore. It is NOT used on any V6. (2) The named EA839 3.0 TFSI TURBO engines (CWGD, DLZA) and the r

The ECU hardware

Bosch MG1CS002 (Bosch MDG1/MG1 generation). MCU: Infineon AURIX TC298TP — a 32-bit TriCore TC29x, ~8 MB program flash, LITTLE-ENDIAN. CORRECTION to the draft: MG1CS002 is an AURIX TriCore part; do NOT expect a Freescale/NXP SPC5777M/MPC5777 PowerPC core on this ECU — that silicon belongs to other/older Bosch platforms, not VAG MG1CS002. Identify the exact TC29x die per unit but treat it as AURIX TriCore. Little-endian is a genuine gotcha versus legacy ME7/C167 (big-endian): read map bytes LE. VAG part-number families on the 3.0T: 8W0907404x (B9 S4/S5), 4K0907559x (C8 A6/A7), 4M0907x (Q7), 06M907309x etc. — verify per chassis/SW. FOR CONTRAST ONLY (do not cross-load defs): SIMOS 12.x = Continental, Infineon TriCore, little-endian (~2.5-4 MB; exact TC part varies by build — verify, do not assume TC1791); MED17.1 (EA837 SC) = Bosch, Infineon TriCore (TC1796/TC1797), little-endian. Three different ECUs, three different definition sets — never mix them.

Fuelling and load sensing

Petrol / gasoline, spray-guided direct injection (TFSI/FSI). Pump reference 95-98 RON (US 91-93 AKI). E40/E85 flex-fuel is the big-power path on this platform (034 and others quote up to ~486 hp on E85 for the B9 single-turbo). Later DLZA (EU/facelift) carries a gasoline particulate filter (OPF/GPF) which constrains full-load enrichment and raises back-pressure — treat OPF and non-OPF calibrations as genuinely different files. No diesel content: there is NO smoke limiter and NO rail/DPF-regen/EGT-soot logic on these petrol units. The petrol analogue of the diesel smoke limiter is the airmass/relative-fill (load) limiter working together with full-load lambda; the dominant petrol failure modes are knock, low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI), over-temperature (EGT), and lean-at-load, not soot.

How this ECU is read and flashed

READ/WRITE PATHS for MG1CS002: (1) OBD — a genuine full-flash READ is locked/encrypted over OBD; tools use a 'Virtual Read' (pull the matching stock file from the tool vendor's DB by exact SW version) and then WRITE the modified CAL over OBD via UDS with security access + RSA handling. Because it is a virtual read, the working file must EXACTLY match the ECU's part number + SW patch level. (2) BENCH — open the ECU, power on the bench, connect the bench/boot header for full read/write; but Bosch locked the flash from ~mid-2020 firmware onward, so many later MG1/MD1 builds refuse a plain bench read. (3) BOOT — TriCore bootstrap (BSL) via the TC298 boot pins, required for locked units. Current (2024-2026) access to locked MG1/MD1 is via voltage/boot 'glitch unlock' rigs or send-in unlock services (Autotuner HQ etc.). Tool support: Alientech KESS3, Magic Motorsport FLEX, CMDFlash, Foxflash, ECUHelp KT200/Bench, Autotuner, PCMflash. NOTE: bri3d's open TC1791_CAN_BSL / Simos18_SBOOT toolchain is for CONTINENTAL Simos (incl. Simos 12/18), NOT the Bosch MG1 — do not expect it to unlock an MG1. SECURITY/IMMO: security access on MG1 is an RSA-based seed/key (contrast: Simos SBOOT is a password-recovery model). VAG Component Protection (CP) links the engine ECU to the cluster/gateway — a SAME-ECU tune does NOT disturb immo/CP. An ECU swap/replacement needs CP re-adaptation (ODIS + GeKo/online) or a bench immo-off. Do not trip the Bosch write-once tuning-protection mechanism — mishandling it can permanently refuse further tuned writes.

How confident is this?

SOLID: ECU identification (CWGD/DLZA/DECA = Bosch MG1CS002 on Infineon AURIX TC298, NOT Simos 12; Simos 12.x = EA888 Gen3 4-cyl Continental; MED17.1 = EA837 3.0 SC) — the single most important correction, high confidence. Solid: TriCore LITTLE-ENDIAN; MG1CS002 is AURIX TriCore (the draft's 'minority SPC5777M/MPC5777 PowerPC' claim is CORRECTED/removed as not applicable to this ECU); the checksum stack = per-block CRC + RSA signature (keys in protected/OTP region) + programming-dependency/OK-flag + Bosch tuning-protection; flash access = OBD virtual-read/write, bench (locked post-~mid-2020), boot-mode glitch-unlock; the functional map set and the lockstep triad (torque monitor + airmass/torque limiters + ZF8 TCU cap); VAG Component Protection behavior; ballpark staging gains; petrol safety principles; and that the EA839 turbo cars use the ZF8 (AL552) auto — DL501 S-tronic belongs to the OLDER EA837 platform (CORRECTED from the draft). Added a critical missing safety limit: LOW-SPEED PRE-IGNITION (LSPI), plus explicit fuel-matching. MEDIUM: exact stock boost figures, per-gear torque-limit values, DLZA OPF-specific enrichment bands, whether the RSA is 2048 vs a higher class, and the e
