P2432–P2437 AIR System Air Flow/Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Bank 1
The voltage on this circuit is sitting near zero. Typically a short to earth, or a sensor that has failed to its low end.
Can you drive it? The engine light will stay on and the car may run in a reduced-power mode. Read the freeze-frame data to see the conditions the fault was logged under.
Which code is which
Same fault, different cylinder or bank — diagnosed the same way. Several set together usually means one shared cause.

The definition
P2432: AIR System Air Flow/Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Bank 1.
P2432 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain code (the engine or gearbox). Its meaning is set by the carmaker rather than by the SAE standard, so a generic OBD-II reader will often show it as an unknown code or misread it.
What to check first
Cheapest and fastest checks first:
- Unplug the sensor. If the reading jumps to full scale, the wiring is fine and the sensor has failed low.
- Check the sensor's 5V supply and its earth before condemning the sensor itself.
What actually causes this on a VAG
Secondary air injection blows fresh air into the exhaust ports for a short window after a cold start so the catalysts light up faster. Some VAG engines carry a small pressure sensor in that air plumbing so the ECU can confirm the pump is genuinely delivering - VAG lists live values for it as 'Secondary air injection sensor 1' and 'Sensor 1 for secondary air pressure, unconditioned voltage'. Others have no such sensor at all and infer delivery from the lambda sensors instead, which VAG shows as 'Test of secondary air system, deviation mass air flow bank 1'. Confirm which your engine has before ordering anything. This code says the signal from that sensor is sitting below the range the ECU considers plausible - typically a short to earth or a dead signal line. The car drives normally once warm, but the lamp is on and that fails an MOT.
Most likely causes, in order
- Moisture or corrosion in the connector. Water bridging pins pulls the signal down, and given how low and exposed these components are mounted on many models it is a common finding. Unplug, inspect for green deposits and a wet plug body, and check the seal and the loom above it for the path the water is following in.
- Signal wire shorted to earth. A chafed wire touching the body, a bracket or a wheel arch liner fixing gives a permanent low reading. Inspect the whole run, paying particular attention to anywhere the harness has been disturbed by previous work or an arch liner has been refitted carelessly.
- Failed sensor. An internally shorted sensor reads low regardless of the wiring. A fair conclusion once the harness has been ruled out, not before. These sensors sit in a hot, damp, sooty spot and do fail with age.
Worth knowing: There is a free test that tells you which part to buy. Unplug the sensor, clear the fault, key cycle, and re-read. If the circuit is still reading low with the sensor disconnected, the short to earth is in the harness. If disconnecting it changes the fault to an open or high circuit, the harness is fine and the sensor is the culprit. Do this before anyone quotes you for a pump - the pump is easily the most expensive part of a secondary air system and it gets replaced far too often on the strength of any fault with 'AIR system' in the name. A garage quoting for a pump on a sensor-circuit code has not finished diagnosing it.
Reading the code is the easy part
A code names the circuit that complained. What tells you why is watching the sensor behind it while the engine runs — and that is where a code reader stops and a diagnostic tool starts.
VAGPULSE reads every module in a VW, Audi, Skoda or SEAT — not just the engine — shows the live measuring blocks behind this fault, gives you the freeze-frame conditions it was logged under, and clears it once you have fixed it. It also does what a generic OBD reader cannot on a VAG: service resets, coding, adaptations, and Stage 1–3 flashing with your original file saved first.
